AI Keywords
AI Keywords take the guesswork out of your image hunt by giving you another angle of approach. When run, AI Keywords will automatically apply keywords to your images based on what is most appropriate for your images. For example, a photo of the coastline could include "body of water", "umbrella", or "beach", depending on what elements appear in your photos.
Using AI Keywords
By default AI Keywords will be enabled when you run ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2024 for the first time. As you browse your images, AI Keywords will automatically run and detect keywords for all of your images.
You can also manually run AI Keywords by performing the following:
With image(s) selected Click AI| AI Keywords | Run AI Keywords.
Scanning for AI Keywords:
In the bottom right corner, you will see a display of the number of images queued for scanning. You can hover over this display to view a tooltip with the file name currently being scanned.
If your queue has become too large and you wish to reset it, right-click the display and choose Clear AI Analysis Queue from the context menu, or choose AI | Clear AI Analysis Queue. You can then browse to the specific photos you wish to scan.
After AI Keywords has run on the folders you have browsed, you can view detected keywords in the Catalog pane, as well as the Organize tab of the Properties pane.
The Properties pane can also scan for AI Keywords on selected images. Selecting images in Manage mode will cause the Properties pane to override the queue and scan the selected image(s) immediately.
To Enable or Disable AI Keywords:
Choose Tools | Options | AI Keywords and check or uncheck the Automatically detect keywords in images checkbox.
To Remove AI Keywords on Selected Images:
You can remove AI Keyword data on images selected in Manage mode.
- In Manage mode, select one or more images.
- Choose AI | AI Keywords | Remove AI Keywords.
These images will remain marked as having been scanned for keywords, and AI Keywords will not re-scan them, unless triggered by the Run AI Keywords command, or enabling the option to rerun AI Keywords.
To Rerun AI Keywords on Selected Images:
You can force AI Keywords to re-scan selected images in Manage mode.
- In Manage mode, select one or more images.
- Choose AI | AI Keywords | Run AI Keywords.
Searching AI Keywords in the Catalog Pane:
You can sort and view all AI Keywords in their hierarchy within the Catalog Pane. Quickly search for photos that are assigned to certain keywords by clicking on the desired keyword within the list. Parent keywords, such as Architecture will include all sub-keyword photos, such as those assigned with the keyword Tower. Click the + to open a group, and select a sub-keyword to narrow things down even further. You can also search by AI Keywords in the Quick Search bar and the Advanced Search pane.
Using AI Keywords in the Organize Tab:
AI Keywords can be viewed and organized from the Organize tab, found within the Properties pane. The AI Keywords group will populate Keywords that have been detected for the selected image(s).
Selecting AI Keywords:
There are 6 ways to select or deselect AI Keywords in the file tree.
- Left-Click: Left-clicking on a keyword will select that AI Keyword. Clicking on any other selection with just a left-click will deselect the current keyword, and select the new one.
- Ctrl Click: Holding CTRL and left-clicking on a keyword will select that AI Keyword. If any other keywords have been selected, this will add it to the selection. Clicking on a selection a second time while holding CTRL will deselect that keyword from your current selections.
- Shift Click: Holding SHIFT and left-clicking on a keyword will select that AI Keyword. If you already have a keywords selected, this will add all keywords between the last selected keyword, and your most recently selected one.
- Easy-Select Bars: On the left side of each AI Keyword, there are Easy-Select Bars
that can be left-clicked. Left-clicking on an Easy-Select Bar will rotate its icon horizontally and select the keyword aligned with it. You can click on any Easy-Select Bars to add/remove selections as needed.
- Select All: Click Select All
underneath the AI Keywords tree to select all AI Keywords.
- Clear Selection: Click Clear Selection
underneath the AI Keywords tree to deselect all AI Keywords.
AI Keywords will be italicized if only part of the selection contains that AI Keyword. Otherwise, the AI Keyword will be in a standard font style.
Assigning AI Keywords to ACDSee Keywords:
You can assign detected AI Keywords directly into your ACDSee Keywords one of two ways:
- With image(s) selected and keywords appearing in the AI Keywords list, find the keyword in the list and click the + button.
- With image(s) selected and keywords appearing in the AI Keywords list, select the keyword in the list and click Assign Selected
.
Assigning AI Keywords when Multiple Images are Selected:
When selecting multiple images, the AI Keywords group will display all of the keywords that appear in any of the selected images. If one of these AI Keywords is then assigned to ACDSee Keywords using Assign All, Assign Selected, or any other method, the assigned AI Keyword will only appear in the ACDSee Keywords of images where the AI Keyword was found.
Example:
- Image A has the AI Keywords Cat, Dog
- Image B has the AI Keywords Dog, Elephant
- Image C has the AI Keywords Cat, Elephant
If all 3 images are selected and then the keyword Cat is assigned using Assign All, Cat will appear in the ACDSee Keywords for Image A and C, but not in Image B.
Assign Button Appearance:
The assign button in the Organize tab will change its appearance depending on a few factors:
- It will display as a Plus if none of the selected images containing the AI Keyword have it assigned as a regular Keyword. Clicking the Plus assigns to all selected images that contain the AI Keyword.
- It will display as a Gray Checkmark if some of the images containing the AI Keyword have it assigned. Clicking the Gray Checkmark assigns to all selected images that contain the AI Keyword.
- It will display as a Blue Checkmark if all the images containing the AI Keyword have it assigned. Clicking the Blue Checkmark will not do anything.
Example:
- Image A has the AI Keyword "Cat" detected and assigned as an ACDSee Keyword.
- Image B has the AI Keyword "Cat" detected but not assigned as an ACDSee Keyword.
- Image C does not have the AI Keyword "Cat" detected as an AI Keyword.
For the AI Keyword "Cat", consider the following table showing the results of each selection.
Selection | Text | Assign Button |
A | Standard | Blue Checkmark |
B | Standard | Plus |
C | N/A | N/A |
A and B | Standard | Gray Checkmark |
A and C | Italic | Blue Checkmark |
B and C | Italic | Plus |
A and B and C | Italic | Gray Checkmark |
