About View Mode

In View mode you can display images in full resolution, one at a time. You can also open the Properties pane (View | Properties Pane) to view image properties, display areas of an image at varying magnifications, or rotate images.

You can use the Filmstrip in View mode to flip quickly between all of the images in a folder. The filmstrip also contains the Information Palette, which contains a variety of useful elements about your selected image. View mode contains a toolbar with navigation buttons, and a status bar at the bottom of the window which displays information about the current image.

View Mode is Divided into Two Areas:

The viewer displays the selected image in the Filmstrip. You can rotate or zoom into images using the tools in the toolbar.

The Filmstrip displays selected images, or images in a folder. Browse images using the left and right arrow keys.

To Access the View Mode:

Select a file in Manage Mode and do one of the following:

  • Click View mode button at the top right of ACDSee.
  • Select View | View mode from the top menu of ACDSee.
  • Press Option–Command–V to switch to View mode.
  • Double-click on an image in Manage mode.

Only images will be displayed in View mode.

In order to ensure optimum performance, the GPU is used to display images in View mode. If your computer has multiple GPUs, the preferred system default GPU is used.

The Information Palette

The Information palette is located on the right side of the filmstrip on the bottom of View Mode, and provides immediate access to the most useful elements of an image's EXIF information. It includes:

  • Camera Name and Lens Model
  • Dimensions
  • File Size
  • Exposure Program
  • White Balance
  • Metering Mode
  • Flash
  • RAW (will be blank for files that are not a RAW format)
  • ISO
  • F-Stop
  • Shutter Speed
  • Exposure Compensation
  • Focal Length

If the Info Palette is displaying a value of --, that means no info is currently available for the image.

Detecting Faces:

Use the Face Detection pane to display faces that have been detected, and add names to those faces.

Show Original Image:

When an image is being viewed in View Mode that has had modifications made to it, you can quickly view the original image by holding the Show Original button, located just to the left of the Info Palette. Release the Show Original button to return to the current image.

Previewing Snapshots in View Mode:

If you have saved snapshots for an image in Develop Mode, you can preview those images right in View Mode.

To Preview Snapshots:

  1. Bring an image with Snapshots into View Mode
  2. Select the Snapshot Preview button above the filmstrip
  3. Click on any snapshot you'd like to preview

When a snapshot is being previewed in View Mode, you can click File | Save As to save a new file with that snapshot applied to it.
