Using AI Image Similarity

AI Image Similarity analyzes your images and records how closely they resemble one another. It runs on your computer, and the results are stored in the ACDSee Ultimate database.

Indexing images with AI Image Similarity is what makes three other features work:

Images that haven't been indexed can't be compared, so they won't appear in similarity results.

DirectX 12 feature level 12_0 or higher is required for these features to run on your GPU. You can check your GPU's support level by running the dxdiag.exe tool and reviewing the Display tab or by looking up your device's official specifications. If your GPU doesn't meet the requirements, these features will still run using your CPU instead.

Running AI Image Similarity

AI Image Similarity runs on its own while you browse. It analyzes images in the folder you're currently viewing, working during idle time so it doesn't interrupt what you're doing. Progress appears in the Activity Manager under Idle Activities, alongside Face Detection and AI Keywords.

You can also run it manually on specific images.

To Analyze Images with AI Image Similarity:

Do one of the following:

  • Select one or more images and click AI | AI Image Similarity | Reanalyze for Image Similarity.
  • Right-click one or more images and select AI Features | AI Image Similarity | Reanalyze for Image Similarity.
  • Select one or more images and press Shift + Alt + I.

Running it manually analyzes only the images you selected. Browsing a folder with AI Image Similarity enabled analyzes the whole folder.

Keeping Results Current

Similarity data reflects an image as it was when analyzed. Editing, moving, or adding images means those images need analyzing again.

By default, ACDSee Ultimate handles this for you — the While browsing, automatically rerun AI Image Similarity on images that have changed since AI Image Similarity last ran option is selected. If you turn it off, edited images keep their old similarity data until you reanalyze images with AI Image Similarity manually.
