Using AI Remove

AI Remove takes an unwanted object out of a photo and fills the space behind it with generated background. Brush over the object and ACDSee Ultimate determines its extent, then reconstructs what would have been behind it — removing a person from a beach, for example, and filling the gap with sand and water.

AI Remove sends your request to a cloud service, so it requires an internet connection, a signed-in ACDSee account, and available credits.

AI Remove works on the selected layer only. If you brush across an area where layers overlap, only the selected layer is changed.

Opening AI Remove

To Open AI Remove:

Do one of the following:

  • In Edit mode, click AI Remove in the toolbar.
  • In Edit mode, press Ctrl + O.

Settings

AI Remove's controls appear in the toolbar, left to right.

Control Description
Remove Generates the removal and fills the brushed area with new background.
Clear Selection Clears everything you've brushed without generating.
Size Sets the width of the brush, from 1 to 181.
Color Button Sets the color that marks the area you've brushed. Click the button to open the color picker, or click the arrow beside it to choose from a color pad. The color is only a visual indicator — changing it doesn't affect the result. Choose one that contrasts with your image.
Model Selects the model used to generate the fill. Options are Nano Banana 2 Lite, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, and Nano Banana.
Refresh Available Credits Updates the credit count shown beside it.
Available Credits Shows the credits currently in your account.
Estimated Credits Shows what the current removal will cost. The estimate rises and falls with the amount you brush.
Buy Credits Opens the page where you can purchase more credits

 

Your available credit count doesn't update automatically after you purchase more. Click Refresh available credits to update it without restarting ACDSee Ultimate.

Removing an Object

To Remove an Object:

  1. Open AI Remove.
  2. Set the brush width using Size.
  3. Brush over the object you want to remove. To change the color that marks the brushed area, click the color button in the toolbar. To start over, click Clear Selection.
  4. Select a model from the Model drop-down list.
  5. Click Remove.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • Click Done to commit the result.
    • Click Cancel to discard it.
  7. Adjust your brushing and click Remove again.

Credits are used when you click Remove, not when you click Done. Clicking Cancel discards the result without returning the credits.

Credits and Brushing

The estimated credit cost rises and falls with the amount you brush, so a larger area costs more than a smaller one. The estimate updates as you brush, before you commit to generating.
