Dynamic Preview allows you to quickly see a visual preview of your Timeline content by simply moving your mouse over the Timeline. When enabled, the Playhead automatically follows the position of your mouse cursor, updating the preview window in real time. This can be useful for scanning through footage without clicking or scrubbing manually, quickly locating specific moments in long clips, and reviewing transitions, edits, or timing without playback.
How to Enable Dynamic Preview:
In the Timeline Toolbar, click on the Dynamic Preview icon (image), or press P.
Quick Split Mode
This feature is not available in LUXEA Free Video Editor. Please Upgrade to LUXEA Pro Video Editor for access to this feature and much more.
Quick Split Mode allows you to instantly split clips in the Timeline with a single click, streamlining the editing process by removing the need to manually move the Playhead or navigate menus. This can be useful for things like quickly cutting clips during review or rough edits, making precise splits without interrupting your workflow, and reducing the number of clicks needed for basic edits.
How to Use Quick Split Mode:
- Enable Quick Split Mode by performing one of the following:
- Clicking the Change Mouse Action button and selecting Quick Split Mode, or
- Pressing the B key on your keyboard.
- With the mode active, left-click any Clip in the Timeline to split it at the clicked position.
Dynamic Preview will always be on while Quick Split Mode is active. Toggling Dynamic Preview will not change this function.
Enabling and Disabling Timeline Snapping
Timeline Snapping controls whether Clips snap to Markers, the Playhead, or each other when moved or trimmed on the Timeline. When Snapping is enabled, Clips will automatically align to nearby clip edges, making it easier to create clean, precise edits.

Perform one of the following:
- Click the Enable/Disable Timeline Snapping button in the Timeline Toolbar, or
- Press the S key on your keyboard.
When enabled, snapping will be active for all Clip movements and trims. Disabling it allows for free, unsnapped adjustments.
